about
The core tracks of “I Wish That You Could See My Smile” were written and recorded in 1991. Over the years, the live version of the song evolved with changes in tempo, key, instrumentation—even the title’s changed a little. However, for this release we went back to the original recording that was done on a Tascam 4-Track with 2 guitar and 2 vocal tracks recorded onto cassette tape. Starting with that recording—with all of its nostalgic tape hiss and a simpler mix—we added new tracks to build a more complex mix and create a lush atmosphere that still remains true to its original time and style. We're excited to share this new version of an early recording!
lyrics
Softly you sing to me
Sweet dreams and memories
In silent darkness feeling your harmony
Hanging on before I slip away
And I wish that you could see my smile
Although it's dark I know you see it
And hear the laughter of my heart
Even apart I know you hear it
And I smile as I close my eyes, and think of you with me
As I listen to the sound so lovely as you play
And I fall asleep so happy, after yet another day
And I'm lying in a world of loveliness
I wish that you could see my smile
It's dark and I know it's late
And I don't know where I am, but I'm with you
You say I should be sleeping
But I don't want to miss a song, or a moment with you
And I wish that you could see my smile
Although it's dark I know you see it
And hear the laughter of my heart
Even apart I know you hear it
Can you feel it, do you feel my smile
Without touching I know you're by my side
As I listen to the sound, so lovely as you play
And I fall asleep so happy, after yet another day
And I'm lying in a world of loveliness
I wish that you could see my smile.
And I smile as I close my eyes, and think of you with me
As I listen to the sound so lovely as you play
And I fall asleep so happy, after yet another day
And I'm lying in a world of loveliness
I wish that you could see my smile.
